+ Q&A with cinematographer Matthias Delvaux
Matthias Delvaux is a Belgian cinematographer. After travelling by bike in Western China, the landscapes, the people and their stories inspired him to explore Chinese independent cinema. For Snow Leopard he worked with Pema Tseden, in the desolate Tibetan plateau in Qinghai. This formed his most memorable film experience in China.

About the Director
Pema Tseden is a Tibetan director, screenwriter and author. Most of Pema Tseden’s films were shot in Tibetan language by Tibetan teams. Widely recognized as a pioneer of the Tibetan New Wave, Pema Tseden’s body of cinematic works includes 'The Silent Holy Stones', 'The Search', 'Old Dog', 'Tharlo', 'Jinpa' and 'Balloon' amongst others. His films have been selectedat Venice, Locarno, TIFF and many other major international film festivals, winning over forty international prizes. Tseden died in 2023. 'Snow Leopard' is his last film.
