Iege is Master in Sinology (UGent). She also studied two years at the Central Academy of Drama (中央戏剧学院) in Beijing and did a Master at the University of Leiden. She founded the company IKARO with Katrien Coupez, specialized in translation and interpreting, was co-founder and editor of Het Trage Vuur, magazine for Chinese literature in translation and translated and published modern and contemporary Chinese poetry and some novels into Dutch for various publishers in the Netherlands and Belgium.
